To lead the delivery of a bold, new Digital World to our customers.

To make our customers’ lives a whole lot brighter.

Lonestar Cell MTN launched its commercial operations in Liberia in July 2001, after having successfully won the auction for the first mobile license. Its license covers the use of both GSM and UMTS radio frequencies for the provision of integrated mobile services. Lonestar Cell MTN became the new brand name of the company in September 2007, following the acquisition of its mother company Investcom LLC by MTN Group.

In October 2008 MTN (a company operated in more than 21 countries) acquired 60% of Lonestar Cell share capital.

In 2009, Lonestar Cell MTN signed a €20 million contract with Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd for upgrading the MTN network. Through this network upgrade, which was completed in 2010, MTN strengthens its position in the Liberian market and offers higher network speeds, larger network capacity, better quality of voice calls, and broader geographic and population coverage.

We take great pride in reaching our over 1.3 million customers in cities, towns and remote villages, connecting them with family, friends and opportunities important to their lives and aspirations.
